On New Years', while in custody and on his belly, a man was shot in the back and killed by a BART police officer in Oakland, CA. There were a few protests and two separate riots on the streets of Oakland as a result of the shooting. (Another good reason for me to keep my ass at home).

There was some national news coverage of the incident -mainly on CNN, with them replaying the cell phone videos over and over, and the riot footage.

The BART officer is in jail and is actually charged with murder. The fact that the dead guy was black, and the cop is white doesn't help matters. (I actually believe that the cop - who was rather new to the force - got too jacked up with adrenaline and pulled out his gun instead of his tazer, as was reported)...Anyway, a shitstorm has ensued, and with that also comes people who will do anything to make a dollar...

It's about 49 degrees outside, near dark, and the icecream man is making his rounds...???

I was totally moved by the inauguration events of yesterday...I thought of the sacrifice of the civil rights warriors of the past. They and Dr King knew deep down in their hearts that a day like this would eventually come.



I truly hope that Obama becomes a great president.

My monitor is all dark - again. One day, I'll turn it on, and there will be nothing to see. I hope I get a job soon so I can replace it...
